Your 2022 DIY Calender Home Improvement Projects

DIY Calender

The past two years have no doubt been a time for DIY projects and renovations, with more people looking for ways to improve their home than ever before. If you are thinking about getting involved with DIY or feel as though a new project is on the horizon, this calendar is here to help.

Let's embark on twelve whole months of DIY project inspiration, ready for 2022!

January

For many people, January is a time for fresh beginnings and new goals. With this in mind, choose a DIY project that will make you feel like you're walking into a new room! Inspiration includes:

  • Painting rooms a different colour
  • Creating feature walls with wallpaper or frames
  • Upgrading plumbing systems (how about a new powerful shower?)
  • Reorganising and creating new storage solutions

February

It only seems right to give your home some TLC during the month of love! January was a time for brand new projects, but with February in full swing, why not pay attention to the areas of your home that need a refresh? This includes:

  • Changing any broken bubs
  • Buffing or replacing floorboards
  • Fixing any broken windows
  • Refreshing dull walls

March

The first signs of spring start to show in March, meaning it feels fitting to prepare for the lighter (warmer!) days ahead...

  • Check on and improve loft insulation
  • Fit new curtains or blinds
  • Consider purchasing some gardening tools

April

Celebrate Easter with some more new beginnings around the home. After January's fresh start, it only seems right to make sure everything is ticking nicely four months later.

  • Have a spring clean and throw out any unnecessary waste
  • Fix any broken garden fencing
  • Tidy up your front and back garden

May

Now that the sun is (hopefully!) shining, it's time to spend some more time outdoors. The summer months provide the perfect opportunity to tend to your garden and bring some life back after a chilly winter.

  • Recoat any wooden furnishings (or build them from scratch!)
  • Paint your shed (or, once again, build a new one!)
  • Plant some bulbs and do some general gardening

June

You might need a bit longer than a month to complete some of May's projects - there's no harm in that! Spend as much time in the sun as possible while it's still out!

  • Continuation of May's projects
  • Seeing to any creaky windows or door hinges
  • Refreshing any garden tiles or pathways

July

With summer in full swing, a lot of people start to plan larger projects that can commence in the autumn. While it might be hard to think about the chillier months in the peak of summer, planning now will prepare you for what's just around the corner!

  • Replace or refresh any indoor woodwork
  • Re-check your insulation solutions
  • Consider replacing window glazing
  • Fix or upgrade outdoor heating solutions

August

Let's get back outside to enjoy the last few weeks of summer! Now's a good time to tie up any projects from the past few months or commence one final push to switch some things up. Consider:

  • Building a new greenhouse or shed
  • Painting the outside walls of your home

September

It's time to bring some focus back to the inside of your home, especially as you'll likely be spending more time in it for the rest of the year!

  • Re-kit your bathroom out with a new shower
  • Build new furniture for your home office
  • Upgrade any uncomfortable mattresses or beds

October

With the weather taking a chillier turn, now's a good time to focus on feeling cosy in the home.

  • Check back in with insulation solutions
  • Upgrade any doors or windows that might be letting a draft in
  • Paint any walls that need a refresh

November

As the skies light with fireworks, use your time in November to light up (and warm up) the home! This can be done through:

  • Getting new lamps
  • Changing to brighter bulbs
  • Insulating any pipes

December

After a whole year of DIY projects, spend the month of December with your feet up and a mince pie in hand. Or, if your DIY brain continues to work in motion, start planning for the next year of fun projects! How about upgrading your tools, while you're at it?
